I have a protected worksheet which I want to enable staff to view and to even filter date (Using drop down filter in headings). However, I want to prevent staff from changing any data on the sheet and I have to unprotect the worksheet to run the filter. Is there any way of doing this in a way that staff cannot change data on the sheet. I do run a macro which unprotects the worksheet, enters data onto it and then protects the worksheet again.

Excel Facts

Back into an answer in Excel
Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
When you set "Protect sheet" a popup is shown and you can check which operation are allowed; "automatic filter" is one of the many option you have.

Thanks for your help -I should have known this
Don't feel bad: I consider myself a "power user", but sometime I guess I know 30% of Excel capabilities...
