Anniversary Dates

Is there an easy way to calculate last anniversary dates in Excel?
Example: An employee commenced employment on 1st October 1995, Today's date is 19th Sep 2002. Last anniversary date would be 1st Ocober 2001.
Is there an Excel function that will return this result?

Oh sorry, forgot to tell you, I use dd/mm/yyyy format for my dates, not mm/dd/yyyy
