Someone has dona pivot table for me. they have done it like this...

........................... PRJ No
............................ A ....... B ........ C ........ D ....... TOT

Data
Count of Sep-06 ... 1 ........ 2........ 2....... 1 ....... 6
Count of Oct-06 ... 2 ........0........ 3......... 4 ....... 9
Count of Nov-06
Count of Dec-06
Count of Jan-07
Count of Feb-07
Count of Mar-07
Count of Apr-07
Count of May-07
Count of Jun-07
Count of Jul-07

And so on.....

My question is... how did they get the "count of months" down the left...?
I have tried dragging the months data- its not working for me... must it be formatted in a certain way? i.e. SUM or COUNT..!?

Thanks

Hi Collinsc

It looks to me like they will have grouped the row field by months and renamed the fields and then applied a count to the data field as usual, since I am not aware of being able to have data items on the left hand side of a PT.

Perhaps you could use Colo's html maker to post an image, as this would make things much clearer for other readers of your message.

Best regards

Thanks for your response.

I am at work at the moment and thereefore cannot download the software required to do this.

How would one go about 'grouping the row field by months and renaming the fields'?

FYI. The titles are like... "Count of Jan 07' so i would have thought that this is automatic.. rather than being renamed.

Thanks

sorted it,....

the months were being dropped into the data field- and then the "count of....." was automatically being produced down the left... under a title of "data". i would suggest that as i had put nothing in the "row" section it automatically moved the "data" section to the left!?
