Morning,

This is not a VB problem - just a general excel one.

If I type in 01793412741 into a cell it always drops off the 0 from the front.

To fix this I put ' in front of it.

The cell then says 01793412741, and in the formula bar it says '01793412741

One machine I use however seems to automatically put the ' infront of everything.

e.g. I type in Hello into A1
A1 says Hello, but the formula bar says 'Hello

Does anyone know what is wrong here - whether or not it is just a setting that I can change.

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
On the machine that puts the ' in front of everything choose Tools, Options and on the Transition tab uncheck Transition navigation keys.

To always show the leading zero in an entry such as 01793412741 format the cell as 00000000000.
