Apply a limit while counting....

Heys Peepsz... I need your help for a problem i'm having...

In Cell A1 for example i enter a number and in Cell C1 is the sum of A1*let say 20... Therefore if i fill in 2 in A1 then Cell C1 would be the sum of A1*20 that would be 40. So far so good... Now i want to apply a limit.. in other words if for some reason the sum of Cell C1 would be more then 500 i want it to stop counting at 500... even though let say the sum would have been 610... but it doesn't count past 500... Anybody Help Please?

And please if your helping me out with a "formula" which i have seen a lot lately... please explain how to apply this formula... as you can see.. i'm a rookie at excel.... thank you guys a lot for your help!
