Apply formula to value entered on the same cell

Hi,

I want to apply a hidden formula to a value that I enter on the same cell.

Here is an example.

A1
When number (e.g.10) is entered in A1, this number (10) is part of phrase "Calculation of 10 (entered value) + 3 is " This phrase needs to appear on A1 and the result of 10+3 to appear on A2.

So when I start I do not have any value appeared on A1 or A2 but when value is entered in A1 then it gets calculated by the hidden formula and show on A1 and A2.

Can it be done without Macro or any other fancy stuff?

Thanks in advance!

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
You can have a customised format that puts text around the value entered into the cell.
If you ALWAYs want to add 3 then that can be included in the text and A2 would have formula =A1+3 and display 13 as the result if 10 is entered in A1.
If you want numbers other than 3 to be added, then you need VBA/macro code.
This is very clunky, not what excel is designed for

Thanks.

I think you meant by using Format Cells -> Category -> Custom right?

So if I want to put the following,

Calculation of 10 (entered value) + 3

I put in Type

"Calculation of " ## "+ 3"

Is this how I type in? to appear as the above?

Try it like this...

"Calculation of "#" + 3"
