Area chart not displaying colors correctly

Hi all,
I have a historical chart of S&P 500 prices for each Presidential administration dating back to 1928 (almost 24k rows of data). If the admin is Republican, I put the S&P 500 price in the Republican column and leave the Democrat column blank, and vice versa. I then display the data on a log scale so it's more even throughout history. All that works fine, until it gets to the colors. See screenshot below:

Then, when I slightly alter the Maximum value in the y-axis, the colors change to the following:

I am at a complete loss as to why the coloration is appearing this way. Any help or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks.
