Arrows Problem

I have a workbook with multiple sheets. For some apperant reason, "arrows" are appearing in various cells in various sheets in the workbook. I am unable to delete them. When I open this workbook, which takes forever now,the arrows appear at the very end of the load, like they are an overlay. When you click on one of the arrows it goes into the drawing mode and a number appears in the cell reference box, like "352" but no letter reference. Any ideas on how to get ride of these?
