Hello,
I have a large spreadsheet with data cells for each item on indivual rows (over 3000 rows). The identifier for the item (its name) is a random generated (not within Excel) code of letters and numbers. For each item there will be a cell with text which are notes on that item. This spreadsheet is modified by another user who adds more items by adding more rows within the spreadsheet at multiple places. This other user also deletes the notes column for all cells. I would like to add back the notes from the previous spreadsheet version to the new version but have the problem that new rows have been added. Is there a method to associate the notes of an item to its identifier so that they can paste correctly into the new, modified spreadsheet?

Thanks to all contributors.

It would be easier to help if we could see what your data looks like. Use the XL2BB add-in (icon in the menu) to attach screen shots of both the old and new sheets. Explain in detail what you want to do, referring to specific cells, rows, columns and sheets using a few examples from your data.
