attendance conditional formatting

I'm tracking attendance by month; if an an employee has perfect attendance then a specific value is entered in that month. I want conditional formatting to highlight cells as long as an employee has perfect attendance. Example, perfect attendance in May, June, July all 3 months will be highlighted. If August is NOT a perfect attendance month, then prior months will no longer be highlighted.

To answer, we need to know how your data is arranged. Be specific as to cells, rows and columns. Also, what value show perfect attendance?

It's set up so that employee names are in column A. Months Jan-Dec 2008 and 2009 are across row 2 in columns E-AB. I've set it up so that perfect attendance is noted by a trophy symbol (% in Webdings). I can get the formatting so that it highlights all cells with that symbol, but need help in setting it up so that if a month is missed, then all prior highlights go away.

You will need to enter a value for months with non-perfect attendance. Say "Y", Then you can use this CF

=(E3="%")*(COUNTIF(E3:$AB3,"Y")=0)
