auto fill 500 rows

Hi

Let say I have A1=Hello

How can I fill 500 rows for example without having to drag my mouse down 500 rows

I am thinking of Home-->Fill but I guess that for numbers only.

Thank you very much.
 

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)

First type in the cell of left indicating cell with A1:A500, then press enter
Secord, move your cursor to the editor/formula bar, type Hello and then press ctrl+enter.
You will get it.
