Hi,

I am looking for a formula that if Column AA has Required in it, then column AJ and AK need to be auto-fill with "1" and "2".

As well, if Column AC has Required then column AT needs to copy what is in Column K.

Excel Facts

Control Word Wrap
Press Alt+Enter to move to a new row in a cell. Lets you control where the words wrap.
Welcome to the board!

Let's say that we are talking about row 2.

Then put this formula in cell AJ2:
Excel Formula:
=IF(AA2="Required",1,"")

Put this formula in cell AK2:
Excel Formula:
=IF(AA2="Required",2,"")

And put this formula in cell AT2:
Excel Formula:
=IF(AC2="Required",K2,"")

Thanks for the formula. Unfortunately I used 1 and 2 as a placeholder.

The formula is not working for me because I tried to replace 1 with NR01. Instead of actually putting "NR01" it trying to put value that is in box NR01.

Is there a solution to this?

In Excel, it is important to understand that anything enclosed in double-quotes is treated as literal text.

So if you have:
Excel Formula:
=IF(AA2="Required","NR01","")
it will return the literal text of "NR01".

If you want to return the value from cell NR01, leave the quotes off (just like we did for the K2 formula in my previous post), i.e.
Excel Formula:
=IF(AA2="Required",NR01,"")
