Auto fill into a filtered list

Hi
Can anyone advice me on the best way to approach this.
I have a list which is filtered on a yes or no column.
I have selected yes and would now like to add a number to another column and use the auto fill feature to drag this down. It does not seem to work while the filter is on.
If I copy the list of number I wish to paste into this column from elsewhere the paste goes into the rows that have no in the yes no column also.

If this is not possible how would I approach this with VBA code.

if column "yes no" is yes then column "Number" = 1
then the next row that meets this condition has 2 in the "Number " column

would have about 1000 rows.

Thanks

Thanks for this advice, I would like the same numbers that are produced in the number column to remain there after the filter is removed. therefore this would not help me with this problem but it will help with another problem so thanks.
