Auto Insert Fields

Folks,
is there an equivalent for the Word Auto Insert Field in Excel?
I want to automatically populate a document review date from an application I'm using into a cell in an Excel spreadsheet.
This is simply done in Word, I use this a lot. But is it possible in Excel?

Thanks, but that's a third party tool. I wouldn't be allowed to use that in my work.
I'm not sure it's doing what I want anyway.
What I'm looking for is a way to automatically insert the file name, file revision number, file release date etc. into the spreadsheet.
I can use auto insert Document Information, DocProperty fields in Word.
I wondered if there was an equivalent in Excel.
