"Auto-open" on remote server

Hi,

I'm working on a restricted remote server, which effectively means I don't have a C:\drive, and I don't have access to any of the program files etc.

Whenever I open Excel, it just defaults to open a new Book1.

All of my setups/macros etc are stored on my personal workbook. Is there any way I can automatically open my personal workbook in this scenario?

Thanks!

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
not sure, but how about saving the personal.xls to somewhere you do have access to (keep it the only thing in that folder) & using it as the alternative startup location (tools | options | general)

Good idea Paddy thanks, not sure if it will work or not. I think that there are multiple users who appear to access the same version of Excel on this rubbish citrix server, so I'm wondering if other users will be getting my personal workbook open-up in other branches?!

I'll try it and see!

Well, I tried it, and neither thing happened.

The alternative location worked, but the settings are reset each time you log off the server!

I think I'm going to have to set up a shortcut directly to the personal.xls workbook and get users to open that instead of the normal excel.exe file.
