I have my autorecover on and I just lost an excel document. Where can I find it?

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
Open excel. The recovered file should come up. If not look at the following to get the location:

tools | Options | Save tab (there is the location where the files are saved.

To change the location for the future:
AutoRecover Save Location

1. Click the Tools menu and select "Options...".

2. Click the "Save" tab.

3. In the "AutoRecover save location:" text box, enter the complete path of the folder where you would like AutoRecovered spreadsheets to be placed.

4. Click OK.

5. Now each time a document is AutoRecovered, it will be saved in the location you specified in Step 3. This makes it easier for you to locate these files as you need to work with them.
