Hi Guys,

I have over 3000 rows of payment informations and I filtered in down to 91. I am trying to put reference numbers in descending order in those selected row. Since I have hidden rows, it is screwing up the autofill. How can I autofill only in the visible rows, not in the hidden rows? Do I need to manually type in 1 through 91? I hope there's a better way. Thank you so much for your help.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
so it's just the numbers 1 to 91 (or 91 to 1)?

Are you going to print them?

I'm just thinking there's a way of doing this on the unfiltered data using formulas, that will update when you apply the filter.

Unfiltered, place an extra column in your table

Say it's column A, you have headers on row 1, so your data starts in row 2 and goes to row 3000

put the following formula in A2 and copy to the bottom of your data

Code:
=SUBTOTAL(3,$B$2:$B$3000)-SUBTOTAL(3,B2:$B$2)+1

When you apply your filters, you should end up with sequential numbering.

Hope that helps
