Autofilter and blank rows

How can I make the Autofilter function in Excel 2010 stop at a blank row? Excel 2010 ignores the blank row and sorts everything!

I have about 100 spreadsheets set up in Excel (pre-2010 version) which uses the blank row to limit the extent of the filter\sort. The blank row is not always the same row number.

For clarity, I need to sort data above the blank row but not below it and I would rather use the Autofilter dropdowns because it is not me doing the sorting, it is a variety of staff - so the simpler the better.

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.

Unless you've manually defined the sort range or have zero length strings somewhere in the blank row (meaning that it's not truly blank), then Excel 2010 should ignore it just like earlier versions.
