random?

1,2,3,4,5?

It can be a random number, but it must be unique.

I have a table and the first column is an ID. I need this column to filled with a unique number automatically

Do you want to generate your ID numbers?

If so do you want to just increment up one?

If you are happy to increment by one each line and the value of A2 is 1 then the formula of A3 will be

=A2+1

Copy the formula down the A column as far as you need.
