I have someone wanting to be able to have their A column number 1-500 automatically in each cell under A. Is there a way to do this?

Specifically, A1 would read 1, A2 would read 2, A3 would read 3, etc....

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.

A quick way is to use the row() formula paste this into Cell A1 also if you insert rows it allows this

=ROW()

If you need to adjust you can start numbering from row 3 by using

=ROW()-2
