I'm keeping a time log, and when I punch in something like

34 Minutes and 19 Seconds, and I type it in 34:19

Excel changes it to 34:19:00, but in the upper bar when I highlight it it says:

1/1/1900 10:19:00 AM

How do I turn off this automation function or just fix this thing in general
and can I just keep it to 34:19?

Thanks.

Hi Hoodwink and welcome to Mr Excel

Excel is doing this correctly - but it's thinking your time is 34 hrs and 19 minutes, so is displaying as a time of 10:19 and ignoring the other 24 hours.

One solution is to enter your times as 00:34:19.

Bit of a pain, and someone else will probably come along with a better solution, but at least it will give you the results you desire.

Hope you're having a good holiday
