Automatically update references to other workbooks

Our situation is we want to have multiple workbooks that pull from each other. So, when workbook A is updated, the information in workbook B is updated, etc. I want to put a macro in the workbook open so that all the messages associated with this process don't appear to the user and they are notified when the update is done. I know how to turn the alerts off, but will that answer yes to the do you want to update question?
