Average values in column B if value exists in column A

Hi

I have a column A with words: Monday Tuesday etc some of them are mentioned more then once.
In column B i have different numbers

What I am looking to do is get an average of all numbers in Column B which have specific word in column A i.e. Monday.

Any ideas how to do this?

Try

=SUMIF(A1:A10,"Monday",B1:B10)/COUNTIF(A1:A10,"Monday")

You can use

=average(if(A1:A10="Monday",B1:B10))

but confirm by pressing ctrl+shift+enter rather than just enter.

This is an array formula and should be displayed with curly brackets around it {}
