Hello,

Using my limited Excel knowledge I'm attempting to find a way to display the average time spent for each of several categories in a pivot chart. Due to the fact that the pivot table that he chart is built from is constantly filtered, I don't think there's a way to add the averages to the table itself. I've been unable to find a way to have the pivot chart draw data from two different sources. Any suggestions on a way to get the chart to include an average line of some sort so that when the chart is used for reporting it is quick and easy to see what months/weeks had categories that went above average?

I have screen shots, but was unable to figure out how to attach them directly to this post and don't want to upload them to another site and attach by link.

Thanks in advance for your help! I've spent multiple hours puzzling over this.

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
You can add an average for any value in the SUM VALUES area of the Pivot, which will carry over to the Chart.
As long as you want the Average of the Filtered/Sliced results and not the Average of ALL items before filter (which you may want for comparison).
Drop your Time field again into the SUM VALUES area. Left click the new field and select VALUE FILED SETTINGS. Select the "Average" in the "Summarize value field by" selection box.
