I now have a list of mixed numbers not in any order and I want to do a sort of look up to see how many times a number apperas to give me an average. :rolleyes:

If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.

do you mean how many times one of those numbers is equal to the average ?
care to post a little example
