I'm trying to get my excel spreadsheet to average a growing list of numbers some of which could have a zero balance. The spreadsheet consists of "due date" column (the date that a payment is due) a "date paid" column (the actual date the payment is made), a "$'s paid" column and a "number of days late" column (the number of days over the due date that the payment was made). I want the excel spreadsheet to average the figures in the "days late" column but obviously only up to the bottom row of the last entry made (and obviously the bottom row changes with each subsequent entry). I'm sure that the answer to this relatively easy but I've tried a number of options all without success. Hope someone can help with this. Many thanks

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Say the "Days Late" values are in column D. Add a new column E for "Average Days Late." Enter the formula =AVERAGE(D$1:D2) in the second row of column E. As you copy that formula into subsequent rows of column E, the start range will remain D$1 while the end range will incrementally increase to include the new row.
