Axis based on number, but display by date

Excel 2010 - I have a few data points about availability of something. For instance, category A is available for the last 20 months, category B has been available for 12, etc. I'm showing this as a bar chart with months on the X axis starting with 0 on the right side, and basically displaying the number of months as a negative number. Hope that makes sense. So all bars start at the right and depending on how many months the bar goes further and further left. I have labels on the bars for the number of months, but would like the X axis labels to show the dates. Maybe years as major ticks and months as minor ticks.

How can I change what is displayed on the axis vs. the actual data values?

Thank you!
