I have several drop down lists on an excel 2007 worksheet. Is there any way to set the background colour of the box so it is not black text on white background, but black text on for example a grey background? The colours do not need to change, just be set once on this particular sheet.

Any help appreciated.

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
do you mean Combo boxes or the data validation drop down?

If combo boxes, you can change the back color property in the properties window

Hey sanrv1f, Thanks for the quick reply. The list is in the form of a Drop down list inserted in the sheet bu selecting, Developer -> Insert -> form controls -> Combo Box (form control). There is NO setting n its properties to adjust the background colour.

if you are using combo box in your sheet without any user form, you need to insert them from the Active X control list, there you will get the properties window

OK, I tried the above solution and it does indeed allow me to change the background colour of that type of box. However I then use the functionality of the drop down box. While I'm sure I could find a work around to achieve the same functionality, it would be a major amount of work changing all the box types. Is there no way I can change the background colour of my existing drop down boxes in code at all, I really don't want to go changing all the box types now.

Thanks, Lee.
