Basic question - returning blank cells

Hi,
Really basic question (I think).

I've got a workbook of 4 sheets, and the first is populating based on data entered in the other 3.

There's no calculation on the front sheet, it's simply copying the contents of the cell e.g. =Scanned!D11

If D11 is blank, I want a null value returned, but what I'm getting for them all is 00-Jan (which is the format I want if the cell is completed).

What do I do?

Try:

=IF(ISBLANK(D11),"",D11)

Try...

=IF(Scanned!D11="","",Scanned!D11)

instead of just:

=Scanned!D11

=IF(ISBLANK(Scanned!D11),"",Scanned!D11)

Fab - thank you. I don't use much beyond sums and pivot tables normally so this was new!
