Hi all,
Is there a way to automatically smooth the points on a graph to come up with a true bell curve? I have 50 point A1 thru A50 and when I graph them they look like a bell curve with the exception of some points - I want to show the actual data on the graph and then overlay a heavy red line that show the bell curve? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tom

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
Would adding a Trendline do the trick for you? Select the series, and do menu command Chart/Add Trendline, and choose a suitable Trendline. The alternative is to have another series with the values for a perfect Bell curve and add that to the chart.

You need two series in your chart. One for the actual data, and the other to show an idealized bell curve based on calculated or arbitrarily assigned mean and variance.

Tushar Mehta shows how to generate such a gaussian curve on his web site, http://tushar-mehta.com
