Blank cells

Good day. I am using Excel 2013 on Windows 10.

Cell C5 contains the formula =if(a5="","",A5+B5)

Cell A5 is blank. Is Cell C5 then considered to be blank?

I am trying to use the function CountA to find a total of cells in Column C that are not blank. Does the formula appear to Excel as a non-blank cell?

I'm afraid double quote will not be evaluated as a blank cell.

You can use SUMPRODUCT instead of COUNTA

=SUMPRODUCT(--(C:C<>""))
