Hi. Quick question.

When I set a range of cells as a source for my data validation list, it will take blank cells and display blank items in my list even if I choose to "ignore blanks". That only happens in Excel for Windows, but not in Excel online. Does anybody know why? Thanks!

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
The online version of Excel includes things that are on the Insider (beta) channels.
The change to how data validation handles lists is one of those things & has not yet been released to all users.

Solution
Thank you for your answer. I was hoping this was easy to solve, as the online version feels a lot less clean. Glad to know I'm not the only one thinking about this. :)

I wanted a blank shown in a data validation list and it worked with desktop 365 version , but when the spreadsheet went online , the blank was lost
and so i had to use a space - no formula used based on the blank from the data validation , so that was lucky

Also dates and times are based on the online server and not the PC - not come across the issue , but it maybe different

I understand you can simply get rid of the problem by unchecking "Ignore blanks", can't you? I might be wrong, though.
