I have an expression in a cell that i do not want it altered what is the way to block the cell so that the result of the expression shows and no overwriting is allowed for that particular cell.
I am pretty sure this is trivial but i'm in a hurry and this forum has saved me before...
Thanks,
JM

Excel Facts

Save Often
If you start asking yourself if now is a good time to save your Excel workbook, the answer is Yes
You should lock the cell (Format > Cells > Protection [also check 'Hidden' to hide the formula]) and then protect the worksheet (Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet). Locking and hiding won't take effect until you protect the worksheet. Cells are locked by default, so you might first want to select every cell and unlock them, then only lock the cell(s) you really want to lock. Then protect the worksheet.

The way i ahve donr thi is:
you need to select the whole page, I done this by holding the left mouse button and dragging across the A, B, C etc ate the top of the sheet until all of the sheet was selected.
Then i right mouse clicked in the sheet and selected "format cells" then the properties tab. make sure it says "unlocked"
Then click in the cell you don't want to be fiddled with, right click, select format cell, properties and click on locked.
Then unselect everything and click on tolls, protection, protect sheet.
The sheet can then be used but the cell which you have protected can't be amended.

This is hoe i have done it anyway, there may be a much simpler solution
