I would like to box parts of text within a cell. I know it is possible to format the font of partial cell contents but is it possible to box it.
I have attached a picture of what i would like but in just one cell.

using Office 365

Welcome to the Board!

Are you saying that if you have multiple words in one cell, you want the borders around just part of the text, but not the whole cell?
I do not know if that is possible.

It sounds like you are talking about the "Cell borders" formatting feature.
Note that applies to the cell as a whole, not to the individual text within a cell.

Thank you, and that was quick!

Yes that is exactly what i am after. In some software there are "formatting syntax" e.g text @[boxed text@] would create that result. I am wondering if there is anything similar that you can use in Excel

No there isn't, you can use VBA to format part of the text (ie bold, italic, size colour etc), but nothing else.

And there is no option in VBA to add highlighting? Cause that could be a workaround.
Actually, you don't need VBA to achieve that you can just use font settings
