Hi All

If I were to start using business objects advanced, would this be a way to learn SQL at the same time?

Excel Facts

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I would learn SQL seperately

I am a beginner with SQL & it's hard enough trying to balance this with the learning of other things

IMO of course

How did you go about that?

I made a query then switched to SQL view to see what was actually happening. Eventually I got good enough to clean up the Access SQL to remove the redundant garbage that the query builder would put into the sql. Also, whenever I got stuck I would do a google search. I never had to buy a book, there is so much good information for free online.

Here's a good site to get you started: www.sqlzoo.net

one more thing... I am a Business Objects developer/administrator. If you're a user, and your BO admins are building thier universes properly you would not have any need to be using SQL. It should all be drag and drop. That's one of the reasons for giving users BO is so they don't have to learn SQL.

Thanks for your replys

I would really want to get into SQL (job) but finding it hard as no expereince using it hands on, but have had business objects experience...

Is there any need at all or a way you can look at the SQL codse in BO or learn from within BO?

Certainly - "What Goes Around, Comes Around"

I'm learning SQL through hands on experience, using Query Analyzer and MS Query

I also have a few books, which are good (My brother is a whizz with it & helps with my queries)

Below are good resource sites

http://www.sql-tutorial.net/
