(C) (R) errors

It's autocorrect doing that. Go to tools..autocorrect options and you will see. (tm) also does that, along with a number of other things.

Click the Microsoft Office button on the top left corner, and then click Excel Options. In the Excel Options dialog box, click Proofing, and then click AutoCorrect Options. Change the settings over there.

Have a look at your AutoCorrect options if you can find it, that is.
