I have a group of times in mm:ss format, e.g., 30:22. My question is: How do I calculate the variance of this group of times? I realize that I could covert each time to a decimal by multiplying them by 24 and changing the format to numbers and get the variance of the converted group, but I want the variance in mm:ss format. Thanks for any help.

If needed =TEXT(MAX(A1:A3)-MIN(A1:A3),"HH:MM")

As your numbers are MM:SS, the result of any VAR function will be measured in days. Simply multiply by 1440 to convert to minutes and seconds.

B8: =1440*VAR.S(B2:B6)
