We need to calculate NPV for the cash flow

example

2011 $0
2012 -163,000
2013 -88,000
2014 16,000
2015 88,000
2016 250,000

The calculation comes fine with XNPV but not with NPV

We want to use NPV because not all people in EU have full version of excel so they don't have the add-in. any suggestions?

Excel Facts

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
Works fine for me:

Code:
      -----A----- ----B---- ---------C---------
  1 $- 5% B1: Input
  2 $(163,000) $ 44,804 B2: =NPV(B1, A1:A6)
  3 $(88,000)
  4 $16,000
  5 $88,000
  6 $250,000

I would like to calculate XNPV without using add-in.

Code:

Thank you, Brett, but there's an error in that it ignores the initial amount (it was zero in the example, so the error didn't appear). I believe this is correct:

Code:
      -------A------- ---B---- ------C------ ----------------------D-----------------------
  1 $ 1,000.00 3-Jul-11 5% C1: Input
  2 $ (163,000.00) 4-Jul-12 $ 47,904.77 C2: =XNPV(C1, A1:A6, B1:B6)
  3 $ (88,000.00) 5-Jul-13 $ 47,904.77 C3: =SUMPRODUCT(A1:A6/(1+C1)^((B1:B6-B1)/365))
  4 $ 16,000.00 6-Jul-14
  5 $ 88,000.00 7-Jul-15
  6 $ 250,000.00 7-Jul-16
