Hello

Is it the IF function to calculate total pay on the basis of the cell containing number of days and then the pay rate being £22.

So if I wanted 10 @ £22, what would the calculation be?

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
So is ten the number or days..or the number of hours?

Can you clarify the question a little...

If it was £22 per day calculation would simply be:

=SUM(A1*B1)
Where A1 is number of days and B1 is £22

Depends whether that's the pay rate per day or per hour or what? And then how many working hours are there in a day.

The calculation would be 10x22 so either:
=10*22
or
=A1*B1
where A1 is the number of days and B1 is the pay rate.

Apologies, 10 would be number of days and £22 is in another cell but with other data, I basically have:

Normal days @ £22, in one cell
number of days in one cell

So I can't really do the basic a1*b1 calculation and I also need a variance in the calculation of 1 to 31 for the number of days.

Hope that makes sense.

whats the difference between normal days and number of days?

What classifies as a 'normal day'

Maybe you can post your worksheet, using the link at the botton of richards post above (colos HTML maker) or write the formula you need in words.

The formula in my head that I need is:

If a1 has (1 to 31)* £22.19

I've just deleted my worksheet so can't post that right now :devilish: :devilish:

edit*

In that case all the ssuggested formulas above will work

Have you tried them?

=A1*B1
Where A1 is the number of days and B1 is 22.19
Or use
=(A1*22.19)

No variance is required whatever is in A1 will be used for the calculation,,,,Give it a try :)
