Calculation does not fire after input

I must have unintentionally done something wrong, Excel does not calculate, except if I push F9.

What is there to do?

Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.

Check under Tools|Options and ensure automatic calculation is selected under the Calculation tab. (Note - I'm using Excel97)

Hi the only thing i know is go to tools then options then calculation tabs and checkit is on automatic. other than that i don't really know
