Calculation from a certain point

Hi,

I am looking for a formula to add from a certain point in a list

I currently have a formula of

=SUMPRODUCT(--ISNUMBER(SEARCH(" Additions "," "&H14:H389&" ")),Q14:Q389)

Which will add anything in those ranges with "Additions" in the description

So what i am looking for is a calculation from this point to the end of the list

Forgot to mention H is the description and Q is the cost that needs totalling

What defines "this point"? do you have another column of dates or something?

Basically its a parts list, with prices

i have quantity, part number, description, price etc

each time the "additions" will be in a different line of the list

i need a total upto the word "additions" in column H and from "additions" in column H to the end of the list

I'm maybe not understanding you, it would appear if you're totalling up to additions and from additions to the end of the list then thats everything in the list......no? can you display a sample please as I'm just not getting what you'r looking for from your descriptions

Yes you are correct

But, i need a break down of what was originally estimated and what it ended up costing

So for arguments sake we estimated 5 items at £50, but it actually took 8 items at £50 i can see that the additions were £150 and the original estimate was £250 totalling the job at £400

Basically a total at the bottom saying something like

Estimate Cost £250
Additions Cost £150

Total Job £400

=SUM(INDEX(Q14:Q389,MATCH("*Additions*",H14:H389,0)):Q389)

satisfy?

If not, would you post a scaled-down sample along with the desired result?
