Call external procedure, exit current sub

What if you want to call a procedure outside the current project (say, from a userform), and you want to be able to close that project (or unload the userform) from within the external procedure?

When I try to do this, I get a popup that says "disconnected from clients", shortcut keys stop working, and Excel won't close except by the task manager.

Any suggestions?
