calulated filed in query by from two seperate tables

I have two tables TheMemo and TheComments.

I created a query with data from both tables (qry Template upload)

TheMemo has the following fields:
Entity Number (short string)
Memo (Long String)
Action (Long String)
Check (Yes/No)
Updated Comments (Long string)

TheComments has the following fields:
Entity Number (Short String)
Comments (Long text)

The template upload query contains:
Entity Number (relationship)
Memo (From Memo)
check (from Memo)
Updated comments (From memo)
Comments(from Comments)

I built the following formula in updated comments:
iif([check] = True, [TheMemo]![Memo] & " " & [TheComments]![Comments],[Comments])

My issue is when I run the query, the formula does not work. The updated Comments field is blank.

Does anyone have an idea why?

What are you doing this in? Access? SQL? Something else?
I ask because Access does have a "long string" data type, so it make me believe that you may be using some other sort of program.

Also, please post the SQL code from your query.
