Can a Data Validation Formula Show one thing in the list but enter another thing? Maybe INDIRECT, SUBSTITUTE, VLOOKUP, OFFSET?

Hello, I don’t know if what I want to do is possible with a formula in Data Validation or if I’ll need to use some code to do it.

Can I have a dropdown list in Data Validation that will show a list (from a named range), yet when you click on one of the shown items in the dropdown list, have it actually enter something else, based on a formula or VLOOKUP, etc.
