I have 2 columns one with 1000 numbers another with 500 numbers I have used a vlookup to identify which of the 500 are in the 1000 this works fine but my question is can I use a if statement to do the same as the vlookup I remember seeing this somewhere but I can't remember the sytax.

Any help would be appreciated

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
You could do something like =IF(countif(A1,A:A)>1,"Exists","Doesn't exist")

My syntax may be wrong because I free typed but you get what i mean.
