Hi Everyone,

Not sure if this is possible?
It a little unusual so please Read before commenting thank you.

I have a drop down list,
and in that list i have some cell which change based on other details in the document,
for example,
Dropdown example
Tony has ears (however because the name can change in the document "Tony" is ref from cell "A1" so its actually ="A1" & " Has Ears")
Tony Has no ears
Tony is an idiot
This list is just an example.

Now the problem is,
if i go to my dropdown list and choose the persoons name,
then select a dropdown, i get the name, but if the name changes the drop down does not because its only a dropdown, it doesnt have the "A1" & " Has Ears" formula in it.

so is there a way i could get the dropdown box to show the current name not just the one it had when i selected the drop down?

i.e. can i make the dropdown live?

thanks

Tony

I would create a list, perhaps on another sheet that you can hide later, that contains your values, ie:
=A1&" Has Ears"
=A1&" Has no ears"
etc.
name the range accordingly. Then, on your validation dropdown you can use list ={range name} which will always reference whatever values are in that named range.
