Hello,

Bit of a weird one this but I need to change the order of one of the fields (row field) in a pivot table. Normally I would just do this by right clicking on one of the records and selecting 'Order' and then move to beginning/ end or up/down.

The 'Order' option seems to have disappeared though. Has anyone had this before? Any idea what could be causing this or how I could fix it? I need a specific order on the table and it's really annoying me!!

Thank you!

Jon

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
Can you drag the items?

No Andrew the only dragging I seem to be able to do is adding or deleting the field from the table.

It's the order of the records within the field I want to control (basically have four colours green, amber, red and black, and it is important that they stay in this order but my PT is ordering them alphabetically). Sorry if I wasn't clear on that but i'm not 100% on the terminology for PTs.

I suppose I could add an index to my data source but that means tampering with the query which I would prefer to avoid, besides I am confused as to what has happened to my Order function in the PT.

Is the Order option on the Pivot Table toolbar or has it gone from there too?

Rory,

Yes it is on the toolbar! :)

Thanks at least I can do what I need for the job in hand now. I'm puzzled by why it has disappeared from the right click menu though :/

Andrew,

I don't seem to be able to on any of the PTs in my workbook. I'll do a simple PT in a fresh book and see if it's the same.

Thanks a lot guys, any idea what has caused this? Maybe I have a funny setting im my options or something?

It would seem some code has altered the shortcut toolbar.
