Can SQL script be used within excel?

Just a simple one... Can SQL statements be used within excel? Ifso How?

You can use Microsoft Query. Click Data -> Import External Data and follow the on screen instructions to import data (during the process you can go into ms query and edit the sql statement)

I don't understand?
when you use an external data range it is 'linked'...what exactly would you be automating?

Record a macro of you making a query thru MSQuery, then you can have a look at the code returned (which will contain the SQL statement).
