In Cell A1 I have a text string that looks like this;

CC1 5467, CC3 6735, CC4 6743

Is there code that will make Only the text "CC" Bold or a certain color?

CC1 5467, CC3 6735, CC4 6743

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
How about this:

Sub macro()
Dim counter As Integer
counter = 1
Do Until counter > Len(ActiveCell.Text)
If Mid(ActiveCell.Text, counter, 1) = "C" Then
With ActiveCell.Characters(Start:=counter, Length:=1).Font
.FontStyle = "Bold"
End With
End If
counter = counter + 1
Loop
End Sub

You could set this up as an event handler to run each time a cell changes. If so, advise the range to use.

Hi
try
Code:
Sub test()
Dim r As Range
Set r = Cells.Find("CC", MatchCase:=True)
If Not r Is Nothing Then
    r.Font.Bold = False
    For i = 1 To Len(r)
        If Mid$(r, i, 2) = "CC" Then
            r.Characters(i, 2).Font.Bold = True
            i = i + 1
        End If
    Next
End If
End Sub
