Cannot connect to SQL database - Excel for Mac 2019

I cannot connect to my SQL database... I have all the right credentials, which work in Sequel Pro just fine. However I keep getting this error in Excel for Mac 2019...

[SqlServerODBC] (15) Failed to connect to the SQL Server instance: [HY000]: Connection broken unexpectedly

Please advise. Thank you!

Also... just to clarify — I'm using the connect to SQL Sever ODBC Data Source option. For authentication, I'm using username/password....

when i do code, I'm using it in the VBA, I have a couple of connection strings and don't need to experiment, so i'm not sure how to craft them quickly to meet your needs, sorry

OK. Do you understand how the iODBC Data Source Chooser panel works? I tried changing the configuration for both of the system DSN to match my database, but nothing worked.

Update: got this working by getting the correct OBDC driver from actualtech.com.
